5. Baseball (positive test results: percent) : Olympic baseball is certainly not at the center of the sport, especially since it was discontinued as an Olympic event after the 2008 Games. Still, baseball yielded one of the highest percentages of positive test results in the years before it was eliminated. And steroid use in Major League Baseball was almost certainly worse than in the Olympics (the MLB did not even have steroid testing with penalties until 2004 ). The tests have been strengthened since then, and the situation appears to be improving relative to the dark days of the 1990s and early 2000s. Just as the sport seemed to be turning the corner, however, it came to light in June that the league was seeking to suspend about 20 players, including stars Alex Rodriguez and Ryan Braun, for alleged involvement in a steroid ring.
An example of a Black athlete who was cut off at the knees because he wanted to stand up is former Chicago Bulls star Craig Hodges, one of only two players in history to win three consecutive All Star 3-Point shooting contests. He made no secret of his friendship with the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan and challenged fellow Black athletes to do more for their community. The proverbial straw that broke the camel's back was when the Bulls won their second consecutive NBA championship in 1992 and Hodges wore a dashiki during the traditional visit to the White House for the NBA champions. He also reportedly gave President George . Bush a letter asking him to address the ills of the Black community.
Euphoria may occur during auras of seizures typically originating in the temporal lobe , but effecting the anterior insular cortex . This euphoria is symptomatic of a rare syndrome called ecstatic seizures, often also involving mystical experiences . Euphoria (or more commonly dysphoria ) may also occur in periods between epileptic seizures. This condition, interictal dysphoric disorder , is considered an atypical affective disorder . Persons who experience feelings of depression or anxiety between or before seizures occasionally experience euphoria afterwards.
